Historical Arthur

    While not all the stories about King Arthur are true there is historical basis for a King Arthur who ruled in Britain in the 5th or 6th century. This man would have been very different from the man in the legend, he would not have been a knight in shining armor, rather his equipment and style would be closer to that of the Romans. This is due to the fact that the Romans had just pulled out of Britain and King Arthur had stepped up to fill the power vaccume. His historical importance comes from the fact that during that period Britain was threatened with being overrun by Germanic invaders and he fought against them.
